The museum, fourth in Italy for number of visitors after the Uffizi, exhibits the greatest number of Michelangelo’s sculptures to the world (seven), including the famous David. Other sections are also housed in the Gallery, including the largest and most important collection in the world of paintings with a gold background[2], and the Museum of musical instruments, where are exhibited many artefacts belonging to the historical collection of the Conservatory Luigi cherubini.
